In Memory of Vernon Hicks Vernon Hicks Award The Vernon Hicks Award for 2011 was presented to Steve “Wildman” Wilson by AKA board member Jerry Petty for his years of assistance and dedication to the Arkansas Knifemakers Association. Steve is the Public Affairs Coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. In that role he hosts a weekly TV program and travels statewide promoting outdoor related events. He has had knife maker guests on that program and many radio spots that he regularly does promoting the knife show. He has also arranged for Arkansas Knifemakers Association members to participate in the annual Big Buck Classic where they demonstrate forging, grinding, cutting, etc. for the public. His “free” advertising for the show has been worth many thousands of dollars. 1994 David Anders 1995 P.
